My sister connects to this song as it reminds her of our childhood home. I didn't deliberate the lyrics and I actually thought they were metaphorical until my sister was so affected. That's when I realized so much of it was actually literal. This song was somewhat healing for me at that point. I imagine it has a different meaning for everyone in any case.
