Most people recognize the expression ”to look for the treasure at the end of the rainbow”. In VOLA the motivation has a more simplistic ring: Why not just look for the rainbow itself? It might very well be of greater value than what it has chosen to lead to. VOLA are explorers in sound. The quintet hunts and takes down rainbows from the sky, loads them on their backs and carries them to a black and white world where sudden contrasts shoot up like surreal architecture. A process, in which indefinable but colourful and musical creatures are shaped and given life.
The band exists in a grey borderline area of rock music, where the elegance is portrayed in the clash of the complex, heavy and ballistic, and the melancholic, reflective and mellow. VOLA blends earth-shaking walls of guitar, aggressive bass lines and lively drums with soothing vocal harmonies, fragile piano sections and moments of sparkling, deep blue-textured electronica. From a distance this may look like an unhandy and inaccessible being, but it is also a being that you can get to know well, if you dare to dive into the soundscapes and take a closer peek. It is not for everybody, but possibly for you. Welcome.
