"Real musicians, playing real instruments, performing real music: what a great idea."
- The Patriot Ledger
During the Spring of 2003, in what was then a small shop called Dick Johnson's Music Center on Pleasant Street in Brockton, Massachusetts, VMF came to life from a common passion of music and love of performing. The five member band worked diligently on writing new, modern material with a funky twist for several months before debuting as the Goods in a favorite college dance spot in Bridgewater, MA known as Our Place
The intials VMF derived during a rehearsal shortly after the band's debut while discussing a permanent name for the band that was unique and flexible. The initials were introduced without definition, just as VMF's music cannot be categorized into one specific genre. The name of the band is VMF
Original members Varis, Rich, Manny, and Skip were joined by Dave and Darrell within months of the music premier at Our Place. The sound was moving forward, the band was gaining speed, but something was still missing. Zucco, the baby of the band, came on board in 2006 and it was immediately determined that his sound was the missing ingredient
Zucco then introduced his pals Hanwar (tenor sax) and Mullins (trumpet) to the band in the early spring of 2008, bringing the power of VMF's horn section to new heights!
The fact that VMF is nine members large has been known to create intrigue by show-goers seeing the mixed ensemble of guys walk on stage for the first time. But, once the music starts it's no longer about the quantity of musicians on stage; it's about the music that get's their feet movin' and heads boppin'
