Toromiro

Toromiro is the musical project of William Johnston. He has been recording music in various cities and under various names or no name for the past ten years. In 2005 he settled in San Francisco and has since teamed up with a few friends to craft songs inspired by his ever-growing record and book collection and his new surroundings. The music of Toromiro draws from the worlds of bluegrass, 70’s psych folk, ambient electronica, and several things in between. The people of Toromiro enjoy combining things--be they people, sounds, cookie ingredients, or alcoholic beverages--in order to create new things. Sometimes those things are shared with others. Sometimes they're kept secret. Sometimes they're just neglected and left behind.

Normally rather reclusive, Johnston has been stepping out for Toromiro performances since May 2006 when injuries from a bike crash left him with nothing better to do than buy a Gibson Flying-V and start playing shows again.

Toromiro's first album, EP1, is out now the brand-new label Sweet Acronym Productions.
