The Black Stymphalian was created in late 2006 by Jaymz (ex-Torment/Fallen Fate) as a solo project to express and explore his diverse tastes in music. This ranged from Thrash, progressive to industrial Style sounds.
In early 2007 the first Stymphalian track was written, entitled "Falling into Darkness", with the help of Richard Dowson on vocals. The song was produced and recorded in Jaymz' bedroom studio. It was during this recording that Jaymz realised he was keen to take his previous recording experience to a more serious level.
In 2008 Jaymz joined Fallen Fate. He would be responsible for the recording and production of the bands material. During this time he took a break from The Black Stymphalian project to concentrate on the band.
Leaving the band in January 2009, allowed Jaymz to experiment with free expression and to concentrate once more on his solo project. Jaymz has since written and recorded some new songs, and further material is already in the pipeline.
