About Shotta G
Keneish Adrian Edwards, better known by his moniker Shotta G was born and raised in a Gritty inner-city community in Kingston, Jamaica. He grew up listening to many reggae and dancehall acts such as Bob Marley, Beenie Man, Beres Hammond, and Shabba Ranks. He then started to pen his own dancehall lyrics at the age of 10 and performed at numerous talent shows and other local showcase.
During his early teenage years, Shotta started listening to hip-hop music and was very impressed by the artists' ability to tell stories with words and metaphors that he never heard before. After receiving Nas's "Illmatic" LP for his 16th birthday, Shotta G fell in love with the craft and decided he was going to start writing his own hip hop lyrics. This was a big step and a difficult one for him as he at the time only spoke with a strong Jamaican twang. So perfoming these songs were his biggest challenge early on. After writing and recording for about two years he perfected his sound and had a few of his songs on the local radio stations in Jamaica.
After Graduating High School, Shotta G won a scholarship to play soccer at the collegiate level. He knew this was going to be his chance to show off his hip hop skills and pursue his dreams of being a professional recording artist. Shotta G has now been living in the states between Saint Louis and New York for almost 5 years now.
Shotta G just completed his first independent LP titled "The Life of a G: Season Two" which has been getting a lot of attention. His first single off the project "Dream Killers" has been getting decent airplay in saint louis, NY, and Jamaica. He is in the process of doing a visual presentation for the song.
