SHONIMUS, A.K.A Shon Gordon was born and raised in the heart of wine country: Healdsburg, California. At a very young age, he received a drum set, a small guitar, and lots of encouragement. He decided to pick up the electric bass in junior high and concentrated on this study in high school. In high school, he endured many original bands, and started gigging locally by senior year. Shon received a $10,000 scholarship to Berklee, which became his choice school. Before attending, Shon had many weekly gigs at various wineries and restaurants around the bay area playing many styles including jazz, funk, country, and blues.
At the age of 13, Shon Gordon discovered a notation program and started dabbling in the world of sequencing midi music. His love for this music continued upon entrance at Berklee with the laptop/software bundle included in tuition. He used his practical knowledge of midi notation and passion for composition to create piece after piece with music programs such as Reason, Logic, Ableton and Garageband. By his second year at Berklee, he had enough material for two full-length albums using only a laptop and an Oxygen 8 midi controller.
Under the alias “SHONIMUS”, he has been compiling and creating his best works over the course of 4 years for his upcoming album, Contains Secrets, and is constantly honing and crafting a sound that is unique and highly listenable.
Soon you will hear his music in TV shows, commercials, and movies. His love for composition has only increased with each piece of knowledge he gains. Contains Secrets will be out in May of 2010 across the Internet by way of iTunes, CDBaby, and Snocap
