About Phil Jacobson

Miami, FL

Phil Jacobson is a singer / songwriter currently making his mark on the independent music scene in South Florida. Originally from the great city of Chicago, Jacobson’s style is a direct reflection of his hometown’s music culture. In 2004, Phil made the move south to attend the University of Miami where he received a degree in jazz vocal performance. While attending UM, he had the opportunity to work/perform with artists such as: Kurt Elling, Jon Secada, Raul Midon, Kevin Mahogony and Bruce Hornsby. He also spent 4 years singing with UM’s critically acclaimed, Jazz Vocal 1 Ensemble, who recently received the Downbeat Award for Best Jazz Vocal Group in 2008.

A jazz influence coupled with his pop, rock and blues roots create the foundation for his music. His first album, "Around It Goes" is a 5 track EP that he started recording in June of 2009. It should be released sometime this summer. He can be found playing a host of different Miami hot spots, such as, Transit Lounge, Churchill's, Tobacco Road and Van Dyke Cafe.
