Nobel is a rising Pop Rock, Alternative sensation-hailing from Richmond, Virginia. Jump started by Blues, Classical and Rock influences coming from brothers Galen and Wayne Wilkerson, and the pop rock sensibility of singer Eric Macalma. The trio began to explore the possibilities of what was already forming before their eyes. Shuffling through several musicians trying to find the right fit, they eventually found the missing links in former DelMarva band members Tom Spadora and David Greer. The trio, paired with bassist Tom and drummer David, a band was formed.
From their humble beginnings, Nobel has rapidly been on the rise, hailing comparisons to John Mayer, Maroon 5, Jason Mraz, & even the Police with a modern pop rock sound. The group's first performance was on, August 8, 2008 at the annual Filipino Festival, held in their hometown of Richmond, VA. The event having brought an approximate attendance of 5,000 people, was immediately followed by a headlining act at award winning nationally recognized concert venue, the National Theatre.
Followed by more performances and the independent release of a Promo LP within a 6 month time frame, the band shifted gears towards writing new material as of late Spring, 2009. Having caught the eye of industry executives and management agencies, Nobel gained support from producers Chris Keup (Jason Mraz, Johnathan Rice, Rachel Yamagata) and Stewart Meyers (Mandy Moore, Lifehouse, Agents of Good Roots). Along side the production powerhouse duo, boasting help from Schiavone McGee, former singer of Fighting Gravity (Island/Mercury Records). Nobel is currently recording their official debut release! With all their success in a short period of time, you definitely need to be on the look-out for Nobel's EP this Fall!
