About Nikko Fir
Isle of Mull, United Kingdom
Bristol-born, and Dorset-raised, Tim Sparks began performing in Cardiff, Wales, both on his own and recently fronting the band Laughter of the Crowd. The Nikko Fir project (named after a Japanese pine tree, and a home-grown top-scoring fantasy football striker), was born from a desire to share personal songs of hope and loss, smiles and tears, joy and pain, faith, love and grace - songs that don't necessarily fit a band performance, although band members are frequently found sharing the stage still. With his music loosely described as 'acoustic-folk-rock', Tim describes himself as "a rock musician disguised as a folk guitarist", with influences ranging from Queen and Tree63 to Del Amitri and Duke Special. Now living and working on Mull and Iona, Tim has just completed his first solo album 'Walking Free'; described as "songs sharing a journey through life and love – and the hope of a home at the end.". Nikko Fir is also about a chance to sing and play and indulge in harmonies with friends and strangers, to enjoy the gift of music and cheer up, challenge, encourage and cajole some people on the way.
