Nate Laughlin

I started playing guitar at the age of 15. It was not until about 7 years into the "picking & grinning" journey that I began writing songs. I spent 2 years in Australia where my "sound" was really developed due in large part to my close friend & roommate Timothy Dearmin who introduced me to Jazz/Fusion/Funk. I feel my sound is diverse and varying, it is all natural and my songs reflect nothing but pure personal experience, observation and a personal relationship with God.

Some of my best tunes were written whilst trying to practice my guitar. I often sit down and instead of becoming a better player I end up writing. That has always been my passion and I love to express things in my life by singing and putting them on paper (computer). I've heard it said that one cannot consider themselves a songwriter unless they are constantly writing songs. I try to live by this but there are weeks that go by where I won't write at all and then other weeks I'll write two or three songs.

My EP is really just a glimpse into my musical journey of playing and songwriting. I have many more songs (some of which are bad and some I like) and I often post them on YouTube. They are raw but often updated and shared with the world via video (thanks to my iPhone).
