About Megz Small

Detroit, MI

Megz Small is a Detroit-based artist who originated from a rural, "bring your tractor to school day" town in Ohio. First handed a guitar by her local musician father at the ripe age of 8, Megz started out playing guit-fiddle driven country and rock standards. After winning her fourth grade talent show with a crafty cover of Oasis' "Don't Look Back in Anger," Megz received a guitar book for Jewel's "Pieces of You" for Christmas and set her sights on learning every tune therein.

After discovering Jewel, Megz fell in love with other incredible female musicians like Stevie Nicks, Natalie Merchant, Alanis Morisette and Sarah McLachlan and has been inspired by amazing artists like these women ever since.

Today, Megz performs locally in the Detroit area and is very close to finishing up her full-length debut album. Sounding like a musical fusion of Cat Power, Johnny Cash and Ani Difranco, Megz offers a voice of sincerity and authenticity to an auto-tuned world.
