About loud machine

charlottetown, Canada

Loud Machine is a multi-award nominated hard rock band with a base in Atlantic Canada. Five musicians with a current hard rock style guaranteed to move your world.

Drawing from guitar rock and blues roots they have blended a classic sound with a post grunge edge and an in your face attitude.

The band formed as the Loud Americans in 2004 when founder and lead guitarist Harold Hutchinson moved from Vancouver to PEI and rekindled some long lost friendships with several ex-pat American musicians. Hutchinson (his friends call him “Hutch”) was a follower of the late 80’s guitar shred movement. His influences include Eddie Van Halen and Joe Satriani. In fact, Hutch used to open the LM show with a medley of Joe Satriani shred songs. The name evolved as the band evolved. The band now consists of artists literally from around the world (certainly from around Canada).

Every great rock band needs a great singer. Loud Machine’s is Johnny Hearse. John is cousin of Haywire keyboardist – Dave Rashed. He studied under The Guess Who’s Terry Hatti to develop his pipes into a three octave range of gutsy rock vocals. The rest of the line up consists of Swiss rhythm guitar and blues-harp player – Joerg Soltermann; local venerable shred bassist – Jeff Smith; and on drums and percussion, ex-prairie rocker – Bob Gagnon.

In 2007 Loud Machine was fortunate to gain the attention of Grammy Award winning, Texas based producer – Joe Hardy. Joe is known for his legendary work with Tom Cochraine, Colin James, ZZ Top, Kim Mitchell and Trisha Yearwood. Joe produced, mixed and mastered much of LM’s last two albums – Leaving LA and the new EP, LM’s third album titled Spanner. LM’s current single – Follow Me – was released as a jam version on Leaving LA and as a radio edition version on Spanner. It has great hooks and an instantly likable melody with a killer lead solo.

Both albums are available for download on iTunes, Puretracks, Amazon.com, Napster, Zune and in stores (HMV, Chapters and Indigo).
