About KoKo Deville
On August 12, 1985 Calisha “KoKo DeVille” Fortner was born in Monroe, LA, from day one she was destined to be a star. Despite all the many obstacles she has been through she has risen to the occasion and has refused to back down from the many challenges of her small city life. KoKo got her start in the church choir at the age of 4, seeing the potential her father began developing her into the superstar that she is today. Although she loved singing, at that time in her life dancing had become her main focus in which she excelled and became respected by many prestigious choreographers. At 12, she began choreographing for major stage plays, music and dance groups in the surrounding area. Three years later she met “King Al” one of the hottest local beat makers who reminded her that singing and writing was her passion. So at age 14 she moved to New Orleans with her dad hoping her music career would take off. After a month and a half of living there she was introduced to producer Louis Roberson whom after he heard her sing immediately put her in the studio and she soon became the third member of his gospel group Y.C.G. (Young Christian Girls). In the midst of doing shows she had to return home writing, singing, and featuring on various local artist projects led her to “The Experience” where she linked up with Dosha Kane for three years working in the studio, which eventually turned into a dead end. On August 8, 2007, two years later she received a phone call from one of her long lost music companions and classmates Ishmael “Klassix” Jones informing her of his return to Louisiana. Seeing that their chemistry was phenomenal, the duo began working for months on the KoKo DeVille project. Word soon began to spread that KoKo was back on the scene and now she is known as one of the hottest R&B singers in the surrounding area. November 7, 2007 she was reunited with the stage but shortly tragedy struck once again and KoKo had to withdraw from music. A month later Klassix and KoKo went back to the drawing board but this time coming up with a new out of the box flavor that grabbed everyone’s attention a combination of Pop, Techno, and R&B with a Hip-Hop twist. Currently Ms. DeVille is doing shows and continuing to work hard in the studio, writing for others, featuring on various projects, and her own, in hopes that one day she could share her music with the world.
