About Ken Foster

Coldwater, Canada

I've been in the music scene since 1996,
I was 38 when I decided to learn guitar, I bought the Eagles Complete,it showed me where to put my fingers as I don't read music, after 1 month I could play Lying Eyes, after about a year later after learning100 tunes I wrote my first song, then I kinda got so lost in music I went songwriting nuts, now after logging over 1000 original tunes, I am an independant artist with 7 records to my credit, number 8 will be out soon. I consider myself to be a folk/rock/country story teller, my latest record Day Dreamer will take you on a trip through several genres of music. I wanted this record to be reminiscent of the late 70s and early 80s and all original tunes. I recorded the whole lp on my studio and did the mix down over several months on my own, I had lots of help from my very talented and well known friends here in Canada with the performances and backing vocals. Speaking of my friends, here are the members of the Ken Foster band, Ollie Strong has been with me right from the start, known as the man of steel, Ollie has been playing on records since the late fifties, he spent over a decade with Tommy Hunter, recorded with Gordon Lightfoot, recorded with the Good Brothers on their very first record in the early seventies, we travel around these days quite often as a duet, pedal steel/fiddle and me on the acoustic. Then theres my fishing pal John P. Allan on fiddle/mandolin, John is one of the founding members of Prairie Oyster and you will also find him with the Good Brothers where John has been since a teenager, when you have John and Ollie together it is one special time, I can't go wrong.A new comer to my band is Dan Henshall, a real youngster but an amazing bass and mandolin player, Dan and I have also been known to be seen as a duet, Dan also plays with the very talented Allison Brown. Last but not least is the very talented Lorn Pinkney who is my engine that keeps us on time, Lorn has also been with me since my first record Endless Roads, Lorn has also been playing with the Good Brothers for years when they run with a drummer,he can play any type of music you can throw at him. My music can be found on itunes and many more sites on the internet.I will be touring in Canada this summer 2010 and playing several festivals, you can find several videos at
Also you will find my lp Sunset Rider here on Ourstage in my music collection.
