About Kaetana

New Orleans, LA

Kaetana Bio
Kaetana, a hip hop artist from New Orleans, La, is a fresh face in the industry. Currently residing in Atlanta, Ga. Kaetana has been hard at work in the studio doing what she loves best: writing and creating new music. “I am always being inspired by my surroundings, so when I write I write from my heart, grabbing ideas and concepts from everyday life.” With a domineering flow and bold lyrics she attacks the mic with confidence and swagger assuring her lady audience: “Someone is here to represent for y’all.” In her song The Grind from her debut album Pink and Blak: Diary of a Hood Barbie Kaetana spits “I’m the voice they been waiting on and I do apologize if y’all been waiting long” and “We ball hard cuz we kept the grind deep in our hearts” after describing overcoming trials in different walks of life. In Cute Chick Kaetana boast about self-image, without being shallow- “This song is about representing you to the fullest and being yourself no matter where you are or what you are going through; simply being comfortable in your own skin”. Not shying away from more serious topics, the emcee tells a detailed story of life for a family who is dealing with the husband/father being in prison in How Much Longer: “It’s been so hard since you’ve been gone, so many years passed by and I’m still right by your side”. This new artist has her mind made up- she is a force to be reckoned with.

Kaetana began performing at the early age of 3 and has not stopped to look back. In 2000 she was the face of the State of Louisiana Health and Hospitals’ Partners for Healthy Babies ad campaign recording both radio and television commercials. “That was a very rewarding experience for me being on TV, radio, performing, and my face all over billboards across the state, and it was for a wonderful cause; what could be better.” In 2003 she entered a recording agreement with then Atlanta Falcon’s running back Warrick Dunn. “Being signed to Big Ticket Music was challenging and great at the same time, I was able to network and record in big studios. It was eye-opening; I gained experience and met life long friends.” After her contract was up Kaetana and her management decided to part ways with the label. In 2007 she featured in 7 nationwide radio commercials for Hillshire Farms’ sausage campaign. Now Kaetana is wrapping up her debut album Pink and Blak: Diary of a Hood Barbie. “I’ve recorded hundreds of songs over the years, but this album means so much to me, the songs I am recording now depicts me as a person, the good and the bad… the pink and the black!” With both melodic and street songs this album aims to please R&B and hip-hop audiences alike. It has been a long road traveled for this artist, but she definitely has a great story to tell.
