About Jimmy Thow
Ok...So first and foremost if you want see some video you can check out the link section!.....and now onto the bio.
Brought out to Winnipeg from Vancouver, lead singer Jimmy Thow had a sense that something big was coming his way. As it turns out that thing was the band Davinport.
After forging a writing partnership with guitarists Jared Daniels and Jason Gordon, the three headed into the studio to start on their debut release “Creatures of Habit” . This disc is finally getting the band the recognition it has deserved all along.
After winning the Power 97 “Rockin’ the 204” contest with their track “Love is Enough”, the band was able to rock an enormous crowd of thousands from the Scotia Bank stage on Canada day ’09. Months later, the band found out that their single had also been chosen as one of the Top 100 songs of 2009.
With a few member changes and a revamped live show the band is starting to get the attention it has been waiting for.
Radio across Canada has started to take notice of the bands hook laden “Radio friendly” songs and major labels and industry players are also starting to listen in. DAVINPORT consists of: Jimmy Thow (Vocals/Guitar): Jared Daniels (Guitar); Kyle Patterson (Drums); Graeme Lowe(Bass)
The experts will tell you that it all starts off with the song…. and DAVINPORT does not disappoint from first listen to the last. Though DAVINPORT is an entity onto itself, the press and the public have compared their sound to great bands like Bonjovi and Nickelback. The band is certainly taking comments like this as a compliment., however, they will tell you that everything they lay down comes from a place within themselves. “To be mentioned in that type of company is flattering ” , says front man Jimmy Thow at a recent radio interview.
In addition to fronting & writing in DAVINPORT, Thow’s songwriting career has also recently taken off with several cowrites with up and coming acts around Canada.
While the band continues to push their debut CD “Creatures of Habit” , material for the sophomore project is currently being compiled and many of the new songs are being brought into their live show.
“…the audience’s response to the new material has really been gratifying and we can’t wait to hit the studio for round two…the material continues to get stronger and stronger which is really exciting ” says Thow.
With Vegas cracking the Top 60 on the National Active Rock Charts and Love is Enough reaching the Top 70 on the Alt Rock Charts, industry insiders are waiting to see what the boys from DAVINPORT will come up with next.
“Creatures of Habit” is only the beginning of an exciting journey for the boys from Winnipeg. Stay tuned for the next chapter!
