Jai Rodriguez was born on Long Island, New York on June 22, 1979. His musical talents were evident from a young age; and have proved to be Jai’s springboard for major successes in the areas of stage performance and acting. As a singer, he has shared the stage with artists such as Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Brian McKnight, Taylor Dayne and Michelle Williams. Jai started his singing career at the age of eleven when he began performing with gospel choirs. Rodriguez then studied musical theatre at the BOCES Cultural Arts Center, and at the age of 17, was selected to play Angel, a lead in the Broadway musical RENT. He later landed the lead role (Zanna) in the off-Broadway musical hit Zanna, Don’t! In 2002, he created his own musical cabaret show, titled "Monday Night Twisted Cabaret," which ran at New York Club XL for a year. Rodriguez continued to perform "Twisted Cabaret" on a sporadic basis between 2004-2006. Rodriguez’s most notable achievement, thus far, has been his Emmy award-winning role as the “Culture Vulture” on Bravo’s hit show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. In this role, Jai used his skills and social charisma to coach men on everything from working the room in a social setting to feeling comfortable on the dance floor. Other acting credits included All My Children, One Life to Live, Number One Single, Good Morning Miami, The Producers, and The New Guy. Jai also starred in the hit Broadway musical, "The Producers" Jai is also being featured as a guest star on this upcoming season of FX's hit show NIP/TUCK as Chaz, an LA fashionista with a dirty little secret. Jai has also received credit as an author for the New York Times Best Seller “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s Guide.” Jai was ecstatic to be a contributing editor for PEOPLE EN ESPANOL magazine 05-06, and a contributing editor for LATINA magazine in 06. Jai also was the Host and producer of a style show for Sitv called STYLEYES MIAMI. STYLEYES MIAMI airs on Sitv.
