About Hugo Biggs

Detroit, MI

Hugo Biggs
Irvin Roy Jones Jr. more commonly known by his stage alias, Hugo Biggs, is an American rapper, hip-hop artist and activist, college student, entertainer, and entrepreneur. Characterized by his "baby face" and laid back demeanor off the mic, young Hugo instantly surprises listeners with his forceful, energetic, and skillful display of lyricism, substance, and versatility.

Hugo's main direction with his sound is to stay true to the type of
music he grew up listening to.
Late 80's to late 90's era as well as the "Golden Era" of hip-hop are his
most dominant influences.

He has an interesting approach on making his music. Despite the
decline in music sales and the quality of emerging artists, he is
poised to make his mark in the industry by paying homage to his
influences by releasing music he feels his predecessors would listen
to, and not necessarily the normal target rap audiences.

"The game [rap] is funny now. Like, literally and figuratively, you
have to make funny raps to get on. The cats my age, If you dont sing or you're not a rock star, you come out as a clown. Real goofy and colorful. Ya'll might know who im talking about (laughing.) Ain't nothing wrong with it though. Let's just put it like this. At the end of the day, who would you want to compare your career to? Jay-Z or any new younger artist? I mean, I'm not like the young rappers. And i'm not going to try and imitate something im not just because of how old I am. Im more realistic with my songs and Im not ashamed to rap about my everyday life. I don't put on a facade when im behind the mic. Im definitely more amped (laughing) but everything I say, that's me. And that is
what hip-hop needs to hear again. Real life. That's something I can honestly say no other artist is bringing to the table right now."
