About The Grea Tones
Saint Louis, MO
After gaining an impressive underground street following with their "big party feeling" shows as members of Royal Illete, the St. Louis based Grea Tones bring their first full length debut album Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum, pounding into audiences' ears this summer. Royal Illete alum Noodles, Orbix, and Vzion have teamed up with the production debut of Josh Travis and the veteran talent of producer Ben Stein to fuse their numerous and eclectic musical influences ranging from hip hop, punk, death metal, funk, and electronic music. Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum is a steadily cascading tide of bombastic beats and mind contorting lyricism. As member Noodles describes, "[Our sound is] something like if the Wu-Tang Clan and the Suicidal Tendencies got off work, went and smoked a blunt at Lauren Hill's house, then took the bus to a warehouse party [and] got wasted with Jurassic 5, [then] passed out on the Chemical Brothers' floor... Something like that."
The Grea Tones are among the first artists to emerge from the latest evolution in R.I.P. Records (Royal Illete Productions, LLC). St. Louis based R.I.P. is an independent record label whose production credits have seen the release of 4 full length LP's, 2 EP's, and whose artists have been featured in dozens of cameos on various records and mix tapes. Since 2002 R.I.P. has been stepping outside the traditional hip hop boundaries, seeking and working with talented artists across genres to create thought provoking and unique musical stylings.
