About Dreams of University
Dreams of University got its start in the fall of 2004, when Zack, Logan and Sheldon began playing in the barn behind Logan's house. With lots of support from fans and friends, they played covers and started writing their own songs, taking on the name Dreams of University in the spring of 2006. That summer, the boys were invited to participate in Alan Maugherman's (Doc Rock) Young Musicians Club and that's where they met Colin and Brett. Alan became the band's manager and began teaching them the ropes of the Midwest music scene, even though they were only in their mid-teens. With the added musicians, DOU's style began to morph from guitar rock into more power pop.
Fans propelled them to the top of the list in a contest to open for Fall Out Boy at the Verizon Music Center in Indianapolis in June 2007. Since then, they have played with bands such as The Academy Is..., Sing It Loud, White Tie Affair, and many more.
In December and January of 2008 and 2009, they recorded their latest EP with producer John Naclerio at Nada Recording Studio (The Audition, My Chemical Romance, Brand New) in New York. They have also played the Indianapolis Vans Warped Tour date two consecutive years. "Morning Rearrangement" features their popular songs "Lily Love" and "6:45". Both of these songs have received play on radio stations and in theaters across the country. The driving force behind the band's music is the fans' strong support.
