About DownDownDown
San Francisco, CA
Jeff Harber and Jayce Basques met in the Spring of 1994. The two bonded over their shared interest in music and local San Francisco-based bands and have been playing music together in various projects ever since.
In 2006 Jeff, Jayce, and the addition of multi-instrument, card carrying Pawnee Nation member, Aaron Prim, sought to revitalize the Motown and Soul styling reminiscent of a bygone music era. The quintet was rounded out by Boston transplant, Adam "Slabs" Humphrey and long-time friend, Laleh Esmaili, background vocalist.
Writing and performing in various ensembles, the members of DownDownDown have toured extensively over the years and released albums internationally. Previous achievements aside, the five have a chemistry and awkward charm which seamlessly transitions into a raw and invigorating sound… similar to that of a sushi truck crashing into an abominable snowman.
DownDownDown has a personality all its own which runs perpendicular to nearly every current fad. All the same there are classic elements in their music which remain familiar and relevant. The band sits in their own obtuse little cubbyhole where they do not fit into any conventional standard of music. Much like their music the band functions oddly and equally. Every member writes, contributes and exhibits a degree of aptitude for more than one instrument. DownDownDown's philosophy is the band that plays together, stays together.
