Letart, WV
Dogsoldier was born from an insatiable thurst to change the world and music. With it's roots in blues, alternative, grunge and classic rock, dogsoldier relies on it's passion for its fans and the response that is reciprocated
This story starts back in 1999, when lead singer Justin Johnson was a senior in high school and looking to put a band together for the high school talent show. (Enter guitarist, drummer Jeremy 'wood' Roberts) upon there initial meeting a bond was struck that was everlasting. By mid 2001 the earliest incarnation of dogsoldier was born. Lowmans' Lyric, (with current ds guitarist Nathaniel Good, and Roberts) and an everlasting musical relationship was born. By 2003 LML had desponded and gone their separate ways. Justin met bassist Jody Ashley in late 2001, when they worked with each other at a local yogurt barn, and quickly became close friends. Jody, who fronted a band of his own always kept in close contact with Justin and the other members of dogsoldier and was finally asked to join the band in late September of '07, after the original bassist left the band
Keyboardists Scott Ilar, joined the mix in November of 07' and has expanded our musical threshold to infinity. One night while sound checking for a show in Morgantown, Scott broke into some snippets from "Dark Side of the Moon"(Pink Floyd) and ran the crowd into a frenzy
The initial concept of dogsoldier was formed in the early winter of 2006, by Justin Johnson and Aaron Fisher, and has molded and evolved into the heart stopping, fist pounding, passion liaison know today as dogsoldie
Right now is one of the most important periods in the history of rock and roll, with the music industry in peril and mainstream artists lacking any conviction at all, dogsoldier is a band that plays for the fans, a band that is thankful for its passion of music, and they convey that in every performance
