"Looking for a new name to get excited about, try Dessy Di Lauro: Chris Wells, Editor-In-Chief, Echoes Magazine (April 2005). Her recently commercially released EP album, 'A Study of a Woman's Soul' (CrazyglueMusic) is a blend of soul & Latin. To date, three out of five of her songs on the EP, were chosen by Soul music compilations; two in the US, and one in the UK.
Dessy has toured the US and Europe with the Cirque Du Soleil's production, Delirium, as a starring singer and also La Nouba in Florida. Her producer, musical director, arranger, composer, and writing partner Ric'key Pageot, was also band director & keyboardist on Delirium. Ric'key Pageot recently came off tour with Madonna on the "Sticky and Sweet" tour playing keys and accordian.
Since the beginning of their collaborations, Dessy and Rickey have showcased there original music in Detroits Motor City Music Conference, Torontos Canadian Music Week Conference & Phemphats Honey Jam, New York Citys S.O.B.s Club, Los Angeles's Temple Bar, The Mint in L.A., The Montreal International Jazz Festival, and many other festivals.
She has sang back up for Patti Labelle, The Neville Brothers, Deborah Cox, Jully Black, Ann Peebles, Niki J Crawford, Lokoua Kanza, opened for Mary J Blige and Maceo Parker, toured with multi platinum singer, Corneille and written for many other artists as well.
DJ John Dean aired a full hour of Dessy's live performance on his popular UK satellite radio show, The Juice, on Solar Radio. The buzz is already starting in the independent music industry.
Dessy and Ric'key are getting ready to release a full-length CD. You can look forward to her digging deeper into her childhood musical influences and her experiences resulting into what many are saying, is a unique sound in todays music. Her vocal ability will leave you captivated and wanting more.
