When lead singer Markus joined dephaser in Malmö in 2008, the band’s trademark sound of melodic post-grunge was established for real. Just as Markus, the four instrumentalists had several years of experience of playing in other bands before forming dephaser. What really set dephaser apart from other unsigned bands was the ability to write no-nonsense “don’t bore us, get us to the chorus” rock music together with the high level of musicianship and recording quality.
After establishing their sound, the next step for dephaser was to get some solid recordings done to show off to the world. The first recording was done in Fredericia Denmark in 2008, where dephaser kick-started their work with a session that included their song “It’s Over Now”. From then on, the band went through several recording sessions in different studios in the Copenhagen area such as Baby Factory and Vibe Factory.
Their latest recording session for their debut album was done in Sweden at AGM studios.Dephaser has a hard-rock/post-grunge sound, where emphasis is on strong choruses and melodies. Main influences are primarily the rock music, which emerged during the early 90ies, but their influences also include more modern act such as The Killers and Kings of Leon. The uncomplicated and direct attitude towards song writing makes dephaser instantly likeable to a broad audience.
