About Da Black 7 Society
Da Black 7 Society is nothing more then a crew that came to breathe new life into the game. A group of seven people that got together with the same dream and are going for it. They are not necessarily trying to change the game, but are just trying to show how music is supposed to be in their minds. Da Black 7 Society came about on May 16, 2008 from a MySpace conversation between members Corey "Nu Genre" El (15) and Niko "Cloud 9" Sheffield (17). They were talking about the highly anticipated super-group CRS consisting of Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and Pharrell. While talking about this, they came to the realization that they could do something similar. From there, they began the systematic organization of the people they thought would fit best: Bill "Young Justice" Howlett (18), Tray "Real-EFX" Fulton (17), and Dontrel "Tr3l" Johnson (17). Marquis "GhostWriter" Massenburg (18) and James "Jay Sorrow" Williams (16) were voted in the group shortly afterward and thus Da Black 7 Society was born. They first began recording in late June that same year and the rest is musical history.
