About Acoustic Distortion
Steve Jackson formed Acoustic Distortion in 2006 after a 25 year self imposed sabbatical from the Texas music scene. Continuing to compose and develop a unique style during that time, Jackson used experiences from his relationships and those around him as inspiration for the themes of his songs. After being urged by friends and family to return to the stage, Jackson took steps to return to the Dallas music arena, where his songs and style were readily welcomed. In addition to Acoustic Distortion he also performs solo acoustic sets and is the host for Open Mic Nite at Opening Bell Coffee for both the Mosaic and Southside locations.
John "Mojo" Molina-Bass
Born and raised in Dallas,
John joined the band in late 2007, replacing the original bassist. John's impact was immediate and profound. John provided that "Wall of sound" that Jackson felt so important to the overall texture of the music. His beautifully melodic base lines are a staple of his performances. Never satisfied with the norm, John strives to make each song stronger. John began playing bass at 14, within a couple of years he was playing clubs that he was too young to patronize. John attended the NTSU jazz program, and has played along side some of the areas most prominent names.
Pete was asked to fill in for A.D.'s regular drummer on the August 2, 2008 cd recording show. He had very little time to learn the tunes, some of which he developed grooves for. His work impressed the band so much that he was asked to stay on as a permanent member. Born in San Jose, Ca. he grew up in nearby Morgan Hill. Pete began playing drums in '67 and has played for numerous bands in both California and Texas. Currently Pete shares duties with both Acoustic Distortion and Tom Sykes and the Texas Travelers. Pete also teaches drums and does session work.
Thad joined the band in February of 2009, and unfortunately was not a part of the One Summer Night project. His arrival made an instant impact on the bands' sound. His complex backing chords and intricate lead guitar work make an already full sound even broader. A veteran of the Texas music scene, Thad is a graduate of NTSU and has recently obtained his Masters in Music Education from UNT. Thad plays constantly with an array of north Texas bands and teaches music in Denton. With his addition to Acoustic Distortion, the future just got a lot brighter
