About 25thHOUR

Portland, OR

“Funk-Infused R&B for the Soul” best describes the signature sound of 25thHOUR. Their musical influences range from such legends as Stevie Wonder, James Brown, and Chic to the more modern sounds of Brian McKnight, Lenny Kravitz, and Maxwell. 25thHOUR infuses those musical styles with God-conscious, spiritual lyricism to create a solid sound of feel-good music with an uplifting message

25thHOUR was formed in the church and all five members are either pastors, ministers, or ministers-in-training. They wish to use their music to positively impact a generation of young adults who have become jaded and disenchanted with spirituality and to bring them to an awareness of the benefits of a God-centered life

All the members of 25thHOUR, Elbert Mondainé (vocals), John Tolbert (bass), Robin Gordon (piano), Andy Bell (guitar), and Roy Shryne (drums), also do various volunteer work. Elbert enthusiastically volunteers and entertains customers at Po’Shines Café, which is also where you can find Uncle John barbecuing some of the best ribs in Portland, OR. Robin’s heart for teaching has led him to offer his time to teach children piano, voice, and mathematics at Celebration Academy of the Performing Arts (CAPA). Similarly, Andy’s heart for children has also led him to volunteer at CAPA where he teaches history and also gives time to perform with Jam Night, a sketch-comedy group. Roy, a computer maestro, creates websites and provides tech support to a number of non-profit organizations

Each member of 25thHOUR brings with them vast musical experience, from John’s time playing bass at Gramblin University to Andy’s experiences as a member of Hyper Static Union. The group has just completed recording a three song demo and is getting geared up to hit the Portland area in a big way. One of their first ventures as a group was the Lincoln Day Dinner for the Clark County Republican Party. The rave reviews from those attendees is just the beginning for this very talented group of artists.
