Mitchy Millz is the producer / DJ alias of Mitchell Clark. Playing over 12 instruments and coming from a diverse musical background, you never know what kind of style the next Mitchy Millz track will be. Mitch first got interested in music when he started taking piano lessons at age 6. As a result his musical influences have a background deeply rooted in classical and jazz music.

Mitchy Millz began in 2011 after the breakup of his hip-hop group, The Apex Crew. Mitch wanted to start a new project and was really into electronic music at the time. Mitch cites such artists as Mutemath, Diplo, N.E.R.D., Justin Timberlake, The Roots, Lido, Flume, Grammatik, Flux Pavilion, Bare Noize, Dillon Francis, Noisia, Rusko, Dr. P, Pretty Lights, Skrillex, Massive Attack, Burial, Daft Punk, and Boys Noize as major influences.

Mitchy Millz got his start in Philadelphia’s diverse and forward-thinking electronic music scene. He has played at many venues including Coda, The Grape Room, Voltage, Underground Arts, Revelation Lounge, Red Sky, The Arts Garage, Flux, and boatloads of warehouse parties. He is affiliated with Tres Chic Music, Glitch Squad, and Giraffe Group for both production and performing.

In 2016 Mitch packed it up and moved out to Los Angeles. Since arriving in LA he has been playing shows all over the greater LA area. He also helped cofound the Venice based record label / artist collective Giraffe Group.

In 2018 in the midst of his festival debuts at Lucidity and Lightning in a Bottle, Mitch joined forces with Sonset and Moonlight of Fest Vibes and Max 2.0 to form the Dreamwork Crew. The Dreamwork Camp was a collective of friends who came together to create one of the wildest crew of party goers / throwers. Meet Mitchy Millz, Diligent Music Student by Day, Dance-Trap Producer/DJ by Night Preface It’s hard to describe, in a meaningful way, what its like to be in the studio with someone who can literally touch just about any instrument and make it sing. I’ve been fortunate enough to have had several of these occasions with none other than my long time friend and musical marvel Mitchy Millz. I wont bore you with a lengthy back story about how I knew him first before he blows up( haha ), but I will tell you that his new single Falling Down is definitely already added to the weekend playlist haha. Lets talk about your discography, I mean you have put out a ton of work over the past few year. “I’ve put out a bunch of singles and features on compilation CDs as well as an EP I put out on Halloween of 2013 called Rage Romp Destroy. That EP has a bunch of cool tunes including a glitch hop collab with Mark Meezy called Halloweekend and another dubstep collab with Kelley Plante called Surrender.” “Some other stuff I’ve been featured on like the Glitch Squad Volume 2 compilation, I have a house track on there called Afterhours. I’ve also been featured on Pulp Funktion, a compilation CD by Funkadelphia. I have a glitch hop track on there called Winter Brew it’s pretty wavy. I’ve done some remixes as well including a futurebass / club remix of CTRL by singer/songwriter Quenton Clarke and a dance remix of The Road by hip hop group The A-Team. I’m sure I’m forgetting some stuff too I always have a lot of tunes in the works”. millz Tre chic. what is it exactly and whats up next for you? Tres Chic is my music production company / record label / graphic design firm / event promotion / marketing entity. [Talk about a mouth full] Tres Chic was founded in 2014 and we’ve done a bunch of cool stuff, mostly on the production side but we’ve done a lot of shows as well. The company is currently going through an expansion phase and restructuring our business model. Eventually I want to specialize more with it, creating custom tailored projects for artists of all kinds, not just music. I can’t speak too much on that right now but believe me when I say it’s going to blow your mind What instruments do you play I play 12 instruments: piano, synthesizer, guitar, bass, drums, saxophone, harmonica, melodica, irish whistle, accordion, vibraphone, and turntables (if that counts as an instrument, I think it does). I also sing too, vocals are an instrument in their own way. Tell us about the album. What were some of your inspirations and what do you hope people take away? The album is called Horizons. I just wanted to make some dance tunes that are fun to listen to. I cover some themes like love, lust, partying, relationships, addiction, and breakups. The album is kind of a love story in a way. I hope people will listen to it and have it relate to whatever they’re going through Horizons Artwork What are some of your overall influences? Some of my biggest influences are pink floyd, Mutemath, pretty lights, lido, haywyre, the weeknd, disclosure, Dillon Francis, led zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Sam smith, and James Blake, to name a few. I think my style is a little all over the place. I moved around a lot growing up so I think that influenced my musical style a lot in that I have a lot of different styles going on. At the end of the day it’s dance music but I have everything from house to futurebass to dubstep to just standard r&b/pop tunes on this album who would you work with and why?? Well, one big goal for me I would love to someday headline my own festival. I used to work for the Disco Biscuits and working Camp Bisco showed me how rewarding it can be to start your own festival from the ground up and build it into something as huge as camp bisco became. Oh and Ariana Grande. She can f*@&*^$ sing. Lol Haha ok cool MIllz Millz I would love to work with Dillon Francis I think he’s hilarious and he makes some dope tunes. I would also love to work with Flume his stuff is next level. Finally you gotta tell us, what was it unreal performing with Jahlil Beats? It was pretty awesome performing with Jahlil. I played with him along with Architekt, Swizzymack, Bok Nero and some other cool cats at coda last month it was a really fun show. I have been doing some work mixing and mastering for Bok, who is jahlils first signing to his new label Tandem. Bok is crazy to watch live. It was cool getting to see him perform the songs we worked so hard on in the studio. Jahlil did his thing too, definitely an epic night Mitchy Millz

Tilsonic, aka Alex Tilson, is a Philadelphia based electronic musician who been making waves for a few months now as part of the Glitch Squad roster. His original No Cigar EP available at Glitch Squad Records, released in November of 2012. It stands out because it remains free of the ubiquitous elements of American electronic music (aka the pop formulizing of electronic music, lol) and rather creates a nice hybrid of many common rhythmic structures and melodies, refocusing it in a signature way that can only be created by the actual musicians playing. That is to say, his work goes a bit deeper than just programming. This remix EP released in June merges Tilsonic's forward thinking music with a nice variety of Philly based producers, which accurately mirrors the diversity of Philadelphia's current electronic music scene. On one end, we have Mitchy Millz's chill, dubby remix of "Amazon", which when "reGlitched" by redHat, known for his live breakcore, IDM and glitchy forms of popular styles, becomes an entirely different affair that is equally, though differently mesmerizing. Architekt and Merk provide dance floor worthy remixes of "Ignition" and "No Cigar" respectively. CounterVulture brings it home with a glitchy, trip hop reimagining of the song "Fuse" which makes very interesting use of the source material, especially with the droning, ambient samples. While tracks 2 and 4 can be worked into pretty much any bass-favoring DJ set, the first, third and last tracks are definitely more contemplative and work for lounge sets or in any relaxation-accommodating playlist.
