“Red Moon” is heavy and sweet as red wine and could easily be done with a strong country influence (for instance, we love the strength of violins) or straight out pop-filled jazz.
Sonia is the rebirth of soul, or at least the most soul I've heard in a long time (mind you I'm not an old man yet, but I've always longed for a modern day soul sensation). I met her at the TLA in Philly. She came outside and talked to everyone waiting in line for Kaki King and the Mountain Goats, and even played us some songs out there. She's an awesome person - class act and an incredible talent. I'm a huge fan of all music, ranging from Classical to Black Metal to Swing to Dance to Hip Hop, but any rightful connoisseur would say Jazz/Soul music holds a place in their heart. Sonia's vocals are smooth and bright like Billie Holiday's, and her delivery is always poignant and is never taken to the point of excess (much like Bessie Smith who would sing to make her point - she would give each word in her lyrics just enough emphasis and harmony and it always resulted in something beautiful). So, I'll end this comment saying Sonia deserves every bit of recognition for her amazing music and tremendous work.
