R&B as well as Neo-soul songstress Leira Love was born in Orlando, Florida, in 1989 to a Puerto Rican mother and West Indian and African American father. Displaying an interest in music from an early age, Leira studied classical music until she acquired an electric microphone in her early teen years, which launched her passion for music. Inspired by such ’90s alt-rock icons such as Prince, Veruca Salt, and others, Leira formed a style all her own. She began singing in her middle and high school gospel choir, in Fort Washington, MD. There, she developed her soulful and vivid sound. After graduating from high school, Leira enrolled at Bowie State University to study Broadcast Journalism. While at school, Leira did numerous broadcasting events and talent shows. Ms. Love began writing her own music in college as well as recording.
