Hello Ninja’s story begins in little England, where lifelong resident Cat Basile had her heart broken by the fickle Irish lovebug Lorrie Geehan. Though their whirlwind romance would end in heartbreak, Cat found friendship in both Lorrie’s rouge brother Anthony and in polo. By 1998, the two had officially played too much polo by Parliament’s standards and were ejected on the same boat that banished Coldplay.
While Cat and Anthony sailed forth on their voyage to the colonies, a young Nebraska boy named Will Deeks (who, just months earlier, gave Conor Oberst the indie powers he now misuses) played his heart out in a small bar in Nashville. There where only three attendees, these being David Bowie, Joe Strummer, and Harrison Ford. The trio invited Deeks to join their super-group which would be based out of Allston Massachusetts. Deeks sold his little sister and bought the first Greyhound ticket north. However, by the time Deeks arrived, the super group was no more due to an argument between Bowie and Ford comparing Wrath of Khan to Empire Strikes Back. Strummer left before battle broke out, to go “show God what’s what!”
Deeks, with no money left to get back to his loving fields of Nebraska, attempted to earn scratch by playing a local bars and selling cigarettes to children. It was during this dark time that he met Cat and Anthony, who where making a comfortable living in the furniture business under the moniker “Bernie and Phyl”.
The three hit it off, then hated each other, then liked each other, then got to close and were afraid of commitment, then hooked up during a party and had a really awkward morning (Kate Flavin bought breakfast), and inevitably started a band.
Since then Hello Ninja has been rocking what could not be rocked with a combination of rock, blues, pop. They have released the 6 song E.P “Hello Ninja is a Band”, a two-song interlude called “The Shute-Henns” and a double “A” side single called “ooo1 Hello Ninja Singles Club” and plan to make an album when they get their promised babes and polo mallets from E.M.I.
