About the Artist

D-Mass (Dene Swan) grew up in Bermuda playing Funkytown by Lipps Inc. on his Fischer-Price turntable. He would drag the needle across the wax, imitating his uncle Winslow(Bermuda's first DJ). "I destroyed records that, if I had taken care of them, would give me a small fortune," he says ruefully.(Ottawa Citizen July 26, 2007) Now Based in Ottawa, Canada Dene is a DJ/Producer whose style ranges from Hiphop to dance-floor anthems. Recent projects include remix work for Rise Ashen's Fossil Fuel Records and two down-tempo DJ mixes for Philadelphia, PA based clothing line Lance Amsterdam. These two mixes feature instrumental Hiphop tracks that were heavily re-edited and remixed by D-Mass. Currently he is working on two albums; An instrumental Hiphop/down-tempo album entitled Graduate and a yet to be titled collection of dance-floor anthems for Know Something (www.knowsomething.ca) He has shared the stage with International superstars like the legendary Grand Master Flash, KRS-1 and DJ Babu. As well as the U.K.'s Broken Beat champions: Bugz in the Attic. His former residencies include: The ever popular Grind party with DJ Frame (Red Army Canada) and the now legendary Thursday nights with Souljazz Orchestra (Do Right). A talented DJ/Producer and multi-instrumentalist. I doubt we have heard the last from Mr. Swan aka DJ D-Mass
