There’s a fighter in me.
Fascinating rhythms, rich chording, refreshing melodies, and meaningful lyrics make the music of Texas artist FIGHTER an inspirational listen. This rising star on the contemporary acoustic music horizon has written and performed countless numbers of songs, including the eighteen songs on his first two cd’s. The songs are above norm examples of the emotions, sophisticated thought, fun, and musical ability found in this talented musician.
FIGHTER’s first album is a collection of original songs recorded both as electric versions and then again in his original acoustic style. Listeners will be pleased with the creative differences but also the similarities between the two recordings. The cd, titled lessthanthree contains fifteen songs, all of which display a wide range of emotion and musical creativity. Let’s Take Back Our Scene contains a light harmony and a catchy mix of instruments that will have a catchy song about getting back loved ones you’ve lost. Including an a capella bridge and an irresistible piano riff, the acoustic version really fits the setting of this song and FIGHTER’s voice is perfectly matched for his plea. Common Cents is well performed and contains emotional and musical passages exemplifying the range and passion of this performer. The Dirty Below begins solemnly and steadily builds as the lyrics speak wisdom, giving advice to stay true to your dreams and your Christian faith as the “hallelujah” climax blows you away. This song was selected to be included on an acoustic compilation cd by Quickstar Productions called Chill Out.
Oh, Brother!, FIGHTER’s second album, is a creative and fun collection of six(?) FIGHTER originals. Each is professionally recorded and exemplifies the diverse and creative writing this young artist is capable of. Listeners will enjoy the analogies drawn from the similarities between relationships and a pair of hightop tennis shoes in Hightops. Pounding Pavement is a beautiful song about creating memories and achieving ones dreams no matter what setbacks may occur. Folks who have longed to get away from their hometown, but then found themselves aching to come back will appreciate Texas. The use of melody and dissonance match perfectly with the clever lyrics. The listener can clearly hear the aching to leave and the relief of coming back home. The bonus track on this album brings it all together and demonstrates this artist’s vocal ability.
FIGHTER is Jesse Schaefer. Every line, every note, is him. You hear it all, the good and the bad. His mantra, “There’s a fighter in me.” is a constant reminder of how God is the fighter in us, and He gives us the determination, faith, passion, and drive to accomplish our goals.
