Portrait of Holly Lovell
Holly Lovell’s songwriting has been described as having “a depth and artistry comparable to many of her seasoned contemporaries”. Holly was born in Colorado in 1992 and has done her growing up in the suburbs of Denver. In 2004 Holly picked up a guitar and turned her love for expression into songwriting. Since that time, Holly’s passion for song-writing and performance has continued to flourish, and is reflected through her admirable repertoire of original tunes.

Holly’s debut stage performance was nothing short of extraordinary when she performed as the opening act for US group ‘The Fray’ at Brisbane’s Tivoli in March 2009. She had only just returned from the Caribbean where she had been given the opportunity to perform on the Cayamo music cruise after coming first runner up in a song-writing competition, and then winning an onboard open mic contest. This opportunity allowed her to play alongside acts such as Patty Griffin and Brandi Carlile.

With an Australian father and an American mother Holly finds her life bridges two continents that she likes to call home. Holly has recently been a finalist in the ‘Q Song’ competition and was featured on AMRAP’s 2009 ‘Fresh from Queensland’ CD.

Holly’s unfeigned musical approach, her natural stage presence and her refreshing perspective on a world she explores with honest, raw fascination strike a chord with her audiences, which Time-Off Magazine stated “…this makes her set all the more personal”. Rave Magazine writes of audiences “…they really have a soft spot for Holly Lovell”.

Holly’s acoustic-folk style intertwines winsome vocals with elements of ukulele, harmonica and her ever-faithful guitar. Holly is currently performing in restaurants, cafes, festivals and on her back deck, and is in the process of recording her debut EP.
