Portrait of Mikey Bowers
After a decade of spinning his wheels in the corporate world Mikey is getting back to what he knows ”I tried for a long time to get a "real" job but just felt like I was existing in this world punching a clock making someone else rich"." I am too much of a dreamer to settle for a job that I am not passionate about and I refuse to get caught up in the big machine". Since his critically acclaimed debut record, Sometime In December, Mikey has written for other artists as well as been a journeyman in other projects playing the bass and acoustic guitar. In 2007 he started his own talent agency representing local and developmental acts and recently merged his company with a larger international agency based in Austin,Texas where he now resides. "I am kind of a swing for the fences guy and I was ready to move on to bigger horizons representing regional and national acts". Despite a strong local following Mikeys' performing career was sidelined do to a chronic health condition before it even got out of the gates in early 2001. Though he is no longer able to perform he is still passionate about writing and with the new vehicles like iTunes, Myspace, Facebook, etc to promote music he has decided to record a sophomore record with a release date of fall 2009. "Ten years ago when I was working in bands and promoting records we didn’t have all of these tools that we have now .The way only people heard about you is if they saw you play or by word of mouth." Booking other artists is a far cry from performing myself but I finally found a job in the music business that pays my bills and it allows me to do what I love which is write and record music". With the new found success as a booking agent and a strong team behind him he is looking forward to the road ahead and the release of his sophomore record Miles From Memphis in stores fall of 2009
