Portrait of Cephalophile
Left from the remains of the bands Resurgence, Dark Judgment and End all, TJ Elenga, Shawn Matthew, Patrick Harper, James and Arthur Ellsworth birthed their musical baby, Cephalophile. In February of 2004 the band started off with knowledge of where they wanted to go and what kind of a sound they wanted to obtain. Following in the steps of their name, they created a cranial fornication through their music. Over the course of the years they made many sacrifices in order to follow their true passion of creating these thoughts and feelings that are key in their signature sound. After having a good setting in their music they recorded their first demo in July of 2004 with Greg Lopez of Blue Screen. Following behind their demo they began to play shows at local bars in Pueblo, Colorado. Cephalophile soon dominated the local metal scene of Pueblo. They are now becoming well known in Colorado’s second biggest city, Colorado Springs, after establishing a solid base in the smaller cities such as Pueblo, Canyon City and La Junta. December of 2005, Cephalophile played a show at a local Jr. College as a result of that show they were asked to play one of their popular pieces on 92.5 The Power Surge. That piece is still being played on that station. Along with many local bands such as Try Redemption and Hells Eden, they have also played with national bands such as Kill Syndicate, Gaza and Apiary. So far Cephalophile has matured into a back bone of the local metal scene, and are still prominent and growing. They recently re recorded their Full album with Matt Herrera from Son of Man and are selling professional T-shirts and stickers. Cephalophile are a passionate family with their music as glue that keeps them together through the rigors of the local music scene.
