Portrait of Jason Roos

Raised in the small, rural town of Long Lake, Quebec outside of Mayo, Jason cut his teeth at a very young age to stars like Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Gene Watson, and Jonathan Edwards, just to name a few. Fascinated at a young age with southern music such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, and The Allman Bros, however Jason was mostly drawn to hardcore traditional country. Jason was only 8 years old when he sang on stage for the first time, and yes, he sang a Merle Haggard song. The old classic "Wake Up" Obviously, Jason didn't know what lay ahead. After quite a few years doing normal kid stuff, Jason asked to borrow his aunts guitar, and at 15, he was hooked. With his father showing him a couple of chords, Jason would not put the instrument down. Even watching his favorite TV shows, Jason had his guitar right beside him to pick up and play in between commercials. After learning some Neil Young tunes from 'Austin City Limits', Jason felt something was missing and quickly noticed that the songs he liked, Neil was playing harmonica. So, very quickly Jason started playing guitar & harp together. By 16, Jason was playing a regular weekend gig at a local club. Jason started performing throughout Ottawa and surrounding areas for eight years honing his craft and paying his dues. During this time, in addition to club & concert dates, he has had numerous television appearances and won many talent contests that had made him a household name throughout the Ottawa Valley & Quebec. Jason obtained the highest marks in the history of CJOH's Homegrown Café in early 1992. He was the CKBY Bud Country Talent Search winner for 1993, in which he went on to win the provincials in Hamilton during Country Music Week. Jason released his first single "Hell Is For Heroes" in early 1994 which recieved rave ratings on an international scale with a top 10 ranking on charts in Australia, and Denmark. In 1995, Jason was featured on CBC's "Rita & Friends". After 8 years in the crazy music business world, Jason decided to take a break, get a day job, and start a family! In August 1999 he married his long-time girlfriend Jennifer, and now has two beautiful children Wade and Presley. It's been ten years, and he's back, better than ever, with a great selection of songs he's been writing during his time off. Jason has shared the stage with the likes of Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, Mark Chesnutt, Gene Watson, Lorrie Morgan, Tammy Wynette, and many more. He is a huge talent of international caliber with a remarkable and gifted voice, and is destined to be one of country music's next hit makers.
