Blaze Burna

Artist/ Producer/ Songwriter

When you mention rap artist in the Houston, Texas you think of an artist that sticks to the same old style of that Hip-hop fans have heard over and over again. When you think of Blaze Burna, you think of an artist that defies the barriers set forth by his predecessors. While being a proud father, Blaze still manages to be one of the most creative MC's out of Houston.

During high school he made numerous appearances on KBXX 97.9 " The Box" radio station for months on their citywide morning freestyle contest, " The Roll Call". Shortly after The Roll Call contest, Blaze started appearing on several mix-tapes, increasing his notoriety by constantly winning freestyle battles. At Texas Southern University's annual spring fest, Blaze battled against 21 opponents, in front of local club promoter, MC Qua and a crowd of over 2,500. His witty word play and performance stood out from the rest of the artists. Blaze went on to win an unprecedented eleven weeks straight.

Since Then Blaze has been involved in numerous battles around the state of Texas. In the 2006 NBA all-star game weekend freestyle battle of Texas vs Detroit, Blaze assisted in Team Texas defeating Detroit. Blaze has since then contributed to numerous mix-tapes and freestyle battles in the state.

In 2008, Blaze came up in third place at the Tag Records "Survival of the Freshest" tour in Houston. He has also recently released his "Nomination" mix-tape and creating the Barack Oburna campaign in an effort to change the stigma that surrounds the Houston rap scene. He feels that with this mix-tape as he stated "Its time for a change, Houston. And I accept the nomination of being the future". The mix-tape has gained a large following underground and has gained new fans for the artist. As to date the mix-tape has sold over 20,000 copies and increasing weekly. Blaze feels that every song that he creates should be a testament to both his lyrical ability and creativity. Blaze Burna lives by one motto when it comes to creating songs: "A song is like a war that you have with haters and other artists. I just hate losing more than I love winning"
