Growing up in Bali, Indonesia, Budiman struggled most of his life due to extreme poverty and abuse by neighborhood bullies. Music was an escape, he learned to play guitar at a very early age. As an adult, the dream of being a musician was nothing more than a fantasy for this poor young man, but he took a job in construction in order to make a living and by night found opportunities to play his music at local tourist hot spots. As luck would have it, he met a Canadian girl and fell in love. After dreaming of snow for most of his childhood, Budiman welcomed the opportunity to start a new life in Canada when the chance arose. However, life in Canada did not only offer a very different and harsh climate, but a huge culture shock as well. Budiman spiraled into a deep depression and only found his way out by reconnecting with his passion-music.
Fast forward more than a decade...Budiman has written more than 300 original songs, recorded two full length albums, and performed at over 100 venues. He has earned a large following of fans both in Canada and throughout the world as his music has been well received in both Bali, and Alberta. His unique mix of folk and reggae, singing of relaxing romantic beaches and the struggles of being an iron worker in the depths of extreme winter weather have left listeners awestruck.
