On Dec. 17th 1982 at 4:30 am a star was born in Flushing Hospital in Queens, N.Y. He first realized he could sing at age six while attending Eternal Love Baptist Church and joined the choir. In J.H.S., Pop sang in a group called the “Chromo Tones” in which he was one of two freshmen chosen to be a part of the all “senior” group. Growing up and trying to find himself, he became curious about life outside of church and began hanging with thugs. Putting music aside, he joined a gang at the age of sixteen and soon found himself incarcerated for the first time. While in prison he used music as a way of escape and soon realized he could not only sing but write as well. It was then, at the age of sixteen, that he wrote his first song. After his release and life’s ups and downs, he kept writing and singing but wasn’t serious until now.
Pop Jones and street family have been going hard promoting music via websites, mix tapes, handing out flyers in local shopping areas, auditioning, writing new material and hitting the studio. On his way to fulfilling his dream, Pop Jones has performed live at spots such as Club Decades, Production Lounge, BBQ’s and the 2008 NYC Marathon. You may even catch him any given Sunday performing live at II Second Chance Deliverance Church.
