Char's daughter Amber Whitworth will be debuting her first solo piece; titled "Waited"; Also included on the upcoming CD will be a remake of The Beatle's "Let It Be". Char and Amber are thrilled about "Sleepers Awake" and look forward to sharing their heart and soul through their music unto their beloved fans.
CROSSOVER ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2008-Char accepted the award at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood on Nov. 22, 2008. The New Music Awards Show was hosted by New Music Weekly Magazine.
Described as "Other Worldly" and reminicent to Sarah Mclachlan or Sheryl Crow with a soft rock flare. Char is promoting her new debut CD "Secrets of the Heart". Opera vocalist singing aria’s Die Fledermaus, and Je veux vivre turned folk by the age of 18. She sang with a group called The Christian Dimensions; who made one recording “Oh Happy Day”. The group made a couple of summer tours in the United States.
After attaining her Masters degree from Oklahoma State University, she began in depth study on guitar at Phillips University. In 1989 she became the guitar instructor for the Fine Arts Department at Phillips University.
Char began working on her debut album in March of 2007,she finished the recording project in August and released "Secrets of the Heart" CD on November 10, 2007.
Char and daughter Amber sing together on the CD. Amber is a graduate from Arizona State University with an Interdisciplinary degree in Arts and Performance. Doc Butler is the keyboardist, bass singer. Jack and Char have been playing and singing together for many years.
The songs are uplifting and express love, hope, peace, loss and healing. Some of the songs are about the invisible realm and mystic qualities thereof. Char feels that the quote, “Be Still and Know God” is very significant in her own life. Char also studies and practices energy healing. Her CD is reflective of this healing quality. It is being played in Yoga class, Massage Therapy and in recovery units at hospitals after surgery. Many people use the CD as healing energy for patients and clients.
