Portrait of Jeremy Hoekstra
A native of the shores of West Michigan, Jeremy Hoekstra grew up and fell in love with the sounds of the singer-songwriters of the 70s along with the melodic rock of the 90s. His journey into music began as most with his high school garage band,
My Friend Licorice. As Jeremy entered college he began to find ways to fuse together both his love for the simple, thoughtful songs and his passion for the melodic rock sounds that hooked him in the 90s.

In 2006 Jeremy Hoekstra released his debut solo album, The Struggle of Hope. The songs proved to be introspective with a glimmer of what was to come in his journey of songwriting. Jeremy’s new release, Awake and Waiting, is truly the culmination of all that inspired him throughout the years. These new songs range from pop/rock to acoustic. The new album continues to define what singer-songwriter means for today’s generation of music.

Jeremy has performed with such artists as Mat Kearney, Griffin House, Jon Troast, and Josh Schicker. He travels around the region performing at festivals, clubs, and coffeehouses. The variety of venues willing to host Jeremy continues to show his music’s versatility.

Jeremy’s influences are bands and artists like Glen Phillips, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Nickel Creek, Gin Blossoms, Mat Kearney, Coldplay, James Taylor, Counting Crows and Travis.
