Currently, Ryan is studying Music Education at Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship. He plays keyboard & most woodwind instruments, but primarily saxophone/flute. He went to the Los Angeles County High school for the Arts (LACHSA).

Performance ExperienceIn Los Angeles, Ryan performed at a multitude of venues, including: Disney Hall, Hollywood Bowl, Ahmanson Theatre, Alex Theater, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, etc…With great musicians like Herbie Hancock, Barry Manilow, Dave Coz, Natalie Cole, Earth Wind & Fire, Ricky Minor, etc
BIOIn High school, Ryan was 1st chair Alto Saxophone of LACHSA’s Big Band, run by Jason Goldman, since his freshman year. The Big Band won the Monterey Jazz Festival three times and was a winner of the 32nd Annual Student Music Awards, through “Downbeat Magazine." He was a member of the High School SCSBOA Jazz All-Stars directed by Carl Saunders. Ryan was also in jazz combos run by Walter Smith III, Bill Wysaske, and Joseph Pernicano. He was a member of the Orchestra/Musical ensemble, conducted by Alan Mautner, two years on flute and one year on Bassoon, playing college level pieces and plays. Ryan participated in the “Spotlight Awards,” every year of high school, making the semi-finals every time. He was given a full scholarship ($3500) to “”http://www.grammyintheschools.com/" target="_blank">Grammy Camp," a 17-day summer program through the Grammy Schools. Ryan attended the Bill Green Mentorship Program—Jazz Studies, winning a scholarship of $1,000 in lessons with Roger Neumann. He was the recipient of the Livingston and Evans Music Scholarship, a $2500 scholarship, awarded by The ASCAP Foundation, through the Young Musicians Foundation (YMF). One half of the scholarship went towards saxophone lessons with Dan Higgins and the other half was for flute lessons with Toby Caplan-Stonefield. On flute, Ryan was in the Chamber Music Series with Susan Greenberg; and was featured on the radio in May 2009 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (88.5 KCSN). In 2005-6, he was in the All-State Junior High School Honor Bands: Symphonic Band, Honor Band, and Jazz Honor Band.
Acting Career
Ryan has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) since 1996. He was chosen to play flute in the movie, “Fame," (2009) worked on the movie, “Jerry Maguire,” filmed a music video with Amy Grant, and starred in three commercials; two for Kaiser Permanente and one for Blue Cross.
Ryan’s favorite performance was taking a two minute solo at the Hollywood Bowl with Herbie Hancock, opening for Gustavo Dudamel! Ryan’s goal after Berklee is to be an educator and performer.
